What is the Armed Forces Covenant?

Venterra is very proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant to become a forces-friendly organisation. The Covenant is a pledge that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families are treated fairly. We believe that we can reap real rewards from employing military personnel, such as Reservists and Service Leavers, as many of them come ready equipped with the skills we are looking to recruit in our industry. We are now working towards gaining Silver Status for our member companies.

Our commitment to STEM Education

Given the skills shortage across our sector, much of our social investment activity promotes Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education. The future needs a steady stream of talented people with a strong foundation in STEM subjects to drive progress and innovation to solve the challenges in the years to come. One of the causes of the skills shortage is that people hold outdated views of what engineering is. This is why Venterra is supporting the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Flagship campaign. ‘This is Engineering’ challenges misconceptions by presenting a positive and relevant image of modern engineering through short videos profiling young engineers doing something extraordinary.

About The Royal Academy of Engineering

The Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) is one of four UK national academies and brings together the most successful and talented engineers for a shared purpose: to advance and promote excellence in engineering.

It provides expert advice and policy support to Government;  takes a lead on engineering education and invests in the UK’s world class research base to underpin innovation and growth.  The Academy receives funding from a variety of sources including Government.

In addition to its support for ‘This is Engineering’, Venterra is also pleased to announce that Executive Chairman, Ayman Asfari is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering recognising their extensive contributions to engineering.
